Post Star Trek Countdown
While I was away I bought the 4 Issues of Star Trek Countdown. (digital issues on my PSP)

For those that don't know, Star Trek Countdown is a 4 issue series of comics, It is a prequel to the newest 2009 film 'Star Trek'.
It ties in the old 'Star Trek the next Generation' universe to the now new alternate 'Star Trek' universe.

For me it made the New 'Star Trek' movie a lot more enjoyable and made it make much more sense and if I was a 'trekie', which I am not, it probably would of squished any qualms I had about the story in the 2009 movie 'Star Trek'

Any way if you liked the new Movie, or a fan of Generations, or don't like the movie because it is 'broke' star trek, or something else alone one of them lines, then I strongly recommend getting the comic books "Star Trek Countdown" and reading through all 4 issues and then watching the movie again...

they did a great job in the comics, and a great job of getting them to tie-in with the movie..

it extends the story and, for me, the enjoyment...

The countdown to the motion picture event of 2009 begins here, in the exclusive comics prequel to STAR TREK, the upcoming blockbuster film from Paramount Pictures! JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci, and Alex Kurtzman present the origin of Nero, the mysterious Romulan who will ultimately threaten the survival of the entire universe. Don't miss this story that brings STAR TREK back to the big screen!

But yeah a recommended read if for nothing else but to extend the the story of the 2009 Star Trek movie..

I'll read ya Avatar review after I watched the movie... One day :s

Post Re: Star Trek Countdown/Nero
I recently got (on the PSP) and read the 'Star Trek - Nero' comics..

Image

Like 'Star Trek - Countdown', Star Trek - Nero is based upon the new Star trek Movie, But Unlike 'Star Trek - Countdown' it doesn't happen before the movie, but during it...

Image

Star Trek - Countdown, ties the Old Star Trek to the new and shows what happens before the movie story..
Star Trek - Nero, happens during the beginning of the movie and shows what happens to Nero during the years while waiting for the 'old' Spock to arrive..

Quote:
From Star Trek feature film writer/producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and artist David Messina, comes an all-new story set within the events of the hit film! Not an adaptation, this exclusive story follows the villainous Nero as he seeks to destroy the Federation...

Image

With Countdown, I say you could watch before seeing the new Movie (or after, to tie the Old universe with the new) but with Nero, it would probably make more sense to read it after seeing the movie.. Or after reading countdown then watch he movie.. it all ties in together anyways..

Anyway these new Star trek Comics (and movie), I feel, are a must Read for any one that is a fan of the New movie, and for anyone that is not a fan because of the 'They changed Start Trek history' thing..

Even if your not a Comic fan, but like the whole star trek thing, I recommend picking these up.. You just might be come a comic fan after it.. ;)

now all I got to do is wait for all the 'Star Trek: Spock: Reflections' comics to come out digitally and the 'Star Trek Movie Adaptation' comics to become digitally...

I hope they keep making these comics, they are great Comics, the drawings are top notch, the colour is fantastic and the story's are great and really help tie in all the new ad old star trek universe together..

I recommend them to all..
